I have been heavily involved in sports since a young age, however my main love is rowing.
I have been obsessed with the various ways of improving sporting performance since about the age of 16, and have since not stopped learning as much as possible about how to get athletes performing at their best.
I currently coach the Grey High School U/19 rowing squad and row for Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. At school level I won multiple provincial titles in various boat types, became the first Grey Boy to win the U/19 A Buffalo Single sculls event and rounded off my school rowing career with a silver medal in the double scull at our national championships. At university level, my focus has been more on coaching, which leaves very little time for my own rowing, although I have held a position in the “A” boat since 2010.
I am by no means an expert on performance, as I have only studied a year’s worth of Human Movement Science (currently studying BCom: Accounting), however I aim to make sure that most of what I say/type is backed up by proper studies and articles.
